For other vendors dealing with the odd marketing photograph however you'll get a great deal of mileage out of Google's Picasa software http://picasaweb.google.com/home (the download link, at the time of posting this, is over on the right hand side of the linked page). Picasa is available for PC and Mac, it will catalogue all the images on your computer efficiently and clearly, auto-resize to Web friendly resolution for emailing and provide you with a host of useful editing functions. It's not just good for a free package, it does as good a job as some software that you'd have to pay for (and in some instances better!)
